INTERNATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM ON INFORMATION TRANSPARENCY COMMENCES

In these days, a series of training sessions for press secretaries of ministries and agencies has commenced within the framework of the project “Fostering Accountability Through Dialogue,” organized in cooperation between the Content Production Center for Mass Media under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNESCO. The training program has been arranged with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

The head of our Center’s Press Service, Sherzod Mamatov, is also taking part in the training.

Participants are receiving a detailed briefing—rooted in international practice—on international standards concerning citizens’ right to access information, the principal provisions of national legislation, the transparency obligations of state bodies, and the role of press secretaries in this process.

UNESCO experts noted that effective systems for ensuring access to information play a crucial role in strengthening public trust and enhancing the accountability of government institutions.

In addition, the training includes practical exercises on modern approaches to strategic communication, disseminating information in the digital environment, fundamental principles of working with social media, as well as mechanisms for countering disinformation, fake news, and deepfakes. Group sessions are also being held to analyze and discuss various scenarios.

According to UNESCO’s global research, coordinated communication and an open information policy are considered key factors in preventing disinformation.

This training serves to strengthen public engagement and further develop reciprocal communication in promoting transparency in Uzbekistan.

The training will continue until the end of the week.
