THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE LIBRARY OF MUHAMMAD PORSO TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF BUKHARA SCIENCE IS GREAT

An international online scientific and practical conference on the topic “The role of Bukhara in the development of Islamic Sciences” was held with the cooperation of the Committee for Religious Affairs, the Muslim Administration of Uzbekistan and the Mir Arab Madrasah. It was attended by teaching staff of scientific institutions of our country, professors and teaching staff of Al-Azhar University in Egypt.

At the conference, the director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, Shovosil Ziyodov, gave a lecture on the topic “The role of the Muhammad Porso Library in the development of Islamic sciences in Bukhara” and presented information related to the life and library activities of Porso.

Khaja Muhammad Porso left behind a very rich personal library. The records state that the number of manuscripts stored in the library has been increased from 57 to 120. Later, this amount increased to 144. Imam Moturidi’s works are also mostly kept in this library.

The merits of Muhammad Porso are incomparable with the fact that thanks to his library, which was very popular in his time, we received books by many thinkers who grew up in Movarunnahr, in particular from Bukhara. Among the more than a hundred names of scientists listed in his works, there are names of our compatriots unknown to us. This indicates that the books in the library are widely read.

Sh.Ziyodov answered the questions of the participants, providing information about the history of the creation of the library, characteristic aspects of its activities and collections of books and manuscripts in the fund.
