GET ACQUAINTED WITH ANOTHER WINNER OF THE IMAM BUKHARI INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

Another laureate of the Imam Bukhari International scholarship established by the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, Mrs. Mari EFTIMIYU, a scientist at the “Collège de France” in Paris, Doctor of Philology and History, arrived at the center.

The French researcher was welcomed by the director of the Center Sh. Ziyodov congratulated her on the victory of the program and wished her success in her scientific work at the Center. Mrs. Mari EFTIMIYU expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and expressed confidence that the project would serve to further improve her research work.

Accompanied by the deputy director of the Center O.Muhammadiev, Mrs. Mari EFTIMIYU got acquainted with the activities of the Museum and its departments. Many scientific pamphlets on working with manuscripts and their history have introduced Mari Eftimiyu to the world as a mature expert in her field. Her scholarly work, “Illuminations of the Qur’an in Central Asia in the XVI-XVIII Centuries,” has caused much discussion.

Mari Eftimiyu, a leading figure in the field of codicology who studies manuscripts as an archeological subject, aimed to gather interesting information and new sources for her book on the history of Central Asian papers during her research at the Center.

According to the researcher, she will study the process of production of the legendary paper of Samarkand Konigil in the craftsmen neighborhood in Samarkand and she plans to hold master classes on paper preparation for researchers of the center. Getting acquainted with the ancient paper production industry of Bukhara and Kokand is also included in the program scholarship.
