IMAM BUKHARI AND THE SCHOLARLY LEGACY OF THE MUSLIM WORLD

An international conference entitled “Imam Bukhari and Scholarship in the Muslim World (2025)” has commenced, organized in collaboration with the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, Sharif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, and the Institute of Quranic Sciences (IIQ) of Indonesia.

The forum was organized as one of the practical outcomes of the scientific cooperation outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Jakarta this July between the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and Sharif Hidayatullah State Islamic University.

During the official opening ceremony, particular emphasis was placed on initiatives aimed at strengthening academic and spiritual ties between the two countries, as well as on advancing the study of Imam Bukhari’s scholarly legacy and promoting a deeper understanding of its scientific significance.

Within the framework of the conference, scholarly sessions were held on the themes “Imam Bukhari’s Legacy and Contemporary Islamic Thought” and “Hadith epistemology, Methodology and Classical Scholarship.” Scholars exchanged views on the scientific foundations of Imam Bukhari’s works, their place within the global school of hadith scholarship, and their modern interpretations.

At the conclusion of the first day, participants shared their views and experiences, discussing ways to further expand cooperation between the academic institutions of the two countries.

As emphasized by the participants, the forum represents an important step toward enhancing scholarly dialogue, exchanging academic experience, and promoting the advancement of science and knowledge within the Muslim world.
