On September 26, the international forum “The Great Heritage of the Past – The Foundation of an Enlightened Future” opened at the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan. The event gathered representatives of prestigious academic and cultural institutions from more than 20 countries, including IRCICA, the Muslim World League, ICESCO, TURKSOY, the University of Oxford, Christie’s auction house, the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as several national archives and libraries. In total, more than 200 experts are participating in the forum.
On the first day, ten panels held discussions highlighting the role and significance of the Center for Islamic Civilization in the social and spiritual life of contemporary society. In the panel entitled “The Spread of Islam”, Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, served as moderator. The session engaged in an in-depth discussion on the historical trajectory of Islamic civilization, the safeguarding of cultural heritage, and its contribution to the development of world science.
Within the framework of the forum, issues such as enriching the museum exhibitions of the Center, digitizing manuscripts and artifacts, expanding areas of international cooperation, and the effective use of modern multimedia technologies are being addressed. In addition, a number of cooperation memorandums are scheduled to be signed, and the adoption of the Forum’s final declaration is planned.
