COMPREHENSIVE REPORT ON TWO SCIENTIFIC PRACTICUMS

Practitioners at the Center who are recipients of the Imam Bukhari International Scholarship Program — Professor Shukran ibn Abdurahman from the International Islamic University Malaysia and Damanhuri Armadi, a lecturer at Raden Intan Islamic University in Indonesia — delivered a presentation on the conclusion of their scientific research.

First, the guest from Malaysia provided a detailed overview of the work he carried out and the results he achieved during his two-month practicum. During this period, several scholarly articles were prepared in collaboration with local researchers and published in prestigious international academic journals and online platforms such as Millah: Journal of Religious Studies and the Journal of Islam in Asia. In particular, the publication of jointly authored articles with Shovosil Ziyodov and Otabek Muhammadiyev in such journals is a clear indication of the international recognition of the research.

Furthermore, articles have also been published on widely recognized online platforms within the Islamic world, such as IslamiCity and IslamonWeb. Some of these articles are particularly significant as they provide detailed information about the activities of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and the scientific and educational work carried out there.

“The international community, through these articles, has gained a deeper understanding of the scientific environment in Samarkand, the Center’s activities, and the contemporary relevance of Imam Bukhari’s legacy,” said the researcher.

As emphasized in the presentation, the researcher’s main scientific project consists of a 240-page study dedicated to issues of work ethics. The project covers four main areas: personal work ethics, relationships within a team, etiquette in relations between supervisors and subordinates, and ethical standards in resource utilization.

Additionally, it was announced that the author’s book titled From Samarkand with Love: A Memoir Across Five Cities is being prepared for publication. The book narrates life impressions from Samarkand and five other cities (Tashkent, Bukhara, Mecca, Medina, and Istanbul), harmoniously interwoven with hadiths narrated by Imam Bukhari.

The researcher also plans to participate in a major international conference to be held in our country this November, where they will present analyses related to education policies in Uzbekistan, Oman, and Malaysia.

It is worth noting that the ongoing scientific research and publications contribute significantly to enhancing the international prestige of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center.

Damanhuri Armadi delivered a presentation on his scientific research titled “Liberating Islamic Studies from Intellectual Dependence and Restoring Scientific Independence.”

The researcher highlighted several issues in contemporary Islamic studies, including excessive Western bias, loss of epistemological independence, and intellectual colonialism.

It was emphasized that, based on the ideas of Moroccan thinker Taha Abdurrahman and Indonesian scholar Muhammad Amin Abdullah, there is a need to introduce new methodological approaches to Islamic studies founded on the “integration and interconnection of sciences.” According to the presenter, this process should serve to “restore epistemic sovereignty.”

The presentation also underscored the risks of uncritical acceptance of Western theories, the necessity of creatively interpreting traditional heritage, and the importance of spiritually and ethically grounded thinking.

In conclusion, the restoration of the Islamic scientific heritage, strengthening interdisciplinary connections, and ensuring scientific independence were identified as urgent tasks for the present day.

The event continued with lively questions and discussions.

The researchers expressed their deep gratitude for the sincere hospitality, excellent scientific environment, and the high respect shown for shared spiritual values. They emphasized that every meeting and dialogue here has left an unforgettable mark on their scientific life and work.

Certificates issued by the Center were presented to the participants of the international program.
