THE SCIENTIFIC RESTORATION PROCESSES AT THE MAKHDUMI AʻZAM COMPLEX

Currently, extensive scientific research is being conducted in the Makhdumi Aʻzam Dahbediy complex near the city of Samarkand. These studies are being carried out on the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Committee for Religious Affairs, with the aim of comprehensively examining the rich scholarly and spiritual heritage of the great scholar and determining its place in contemporary spiritual and educational life.

In order to coordinate the research process and ensure its effectiveness, a special headquarters has been established at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center. This headquarters oversees the activities of the Working Group and takes appropriate measures to ensure the timely implementation of assigned tasks. The Working Group includes leading specialists in history, source studies, archival work, and Islamic sciences.

During the research, inscriptions on 54 existing tombstones within the complex were translated and subjected to scholarly analysis. Based on the epigraphic data, information was collected about seven prominent intellectual figures buried in the complex.

In addition, an initial concept for the complex’s museum was developed, and its visual identity including a logo was created. To organize the museum exhibitions using modern technologies, a project was discussed to implement a digital information system with QR codes for each exhibit. This system will allow visitors to access information in an interactive and academically structured manner.

The planned work on the scholarly editing, translation into Uzbek, and preparation for publication of works by Makhdumi Aʻzam Dahbediy and his descendants has also been launched. At the same time, efforts are being made to collect and systematize information related to the history of the complex, its development process, the environment there, and the historical figures associated with it.

The ongoing research not only provides an in-depth study of the rich scholarly and spiritual heritage left by Makhdumi Aʻzam Dahbediy and his descendants but also contributes to further strengthening the high spiritual and educational potential of Samarkand. In this way, it lays the foundation for the scientific study of cultural heritage sites in our country and the development of modern educational and enlightenment centers based on them.
