Uzbekistan Delegation – Honorary Guest at the Festival in Algeria

As reported, staff members of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center are currently on the scientific trip to Algeria as part of the Uzbekistan delegation.

At the traditional annual festival held in the city of Laghouat, dedicated to the culture of Sufism, the ceremonial opening of the international conference titled “Sufi Samaa: Heritage of the Past, Melody of the Present and Future” took place. This year’s forum, which began with the participation of over a hundred foreign experts from nearly twenty countries, featured the Uzbekistan delegation as honorary guests. On behalf of the Uzbekistan’s delegation, Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, delivered a speech highlighting the firm foundation of scientific and educational cooperation between our countries and noted that in recent years these relations have entered a new phase.

The scholar emphasized that interstate scientific relations are of great importance not only from a historical perspective but also in today’s context. He pointed out that the partnership being established between the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and various scientific institutions in Algeria serves as a practical example of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Additionally, Sh.Ziyodov provided information about the role of Sufi teachings in Islamic civilization, their significance in spiritual education and human perfection, as well as the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in this regard – particularly scientific efforts aimed at preserving spiritual heritage and passing it on to future generations. He gave special attention to the research conducted at the center, international cooperation projects, studies and digitization of ancient manuscripts and the analysis of sources related to Sufism.

The scholar invited Algerian colleagues to visit Uzbekistan and collaborate on research at the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and other scientific institutions.

Within the framework of the conference, negotiations are planned regarding agreements aimed at further deepening scholarly cooperation.

During the festival days, the delegation from our country is scheduled to visit Sufi centers and historical archives in Algeria and hold meetings with local scholars.
