PRESENTATION ON THE GENIUS OF IMAM TIRMIDHI AND A NEW SCHOLARLY SOURCE ON THE HISTORY OF ISLAM IN CENTRAL ASIA

At the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, a presentation was held for the book by historian and researcher Muhammad Ayub, who is active in Pakistan and the United States, titled “Imam Tirmidhi: A Journey Through the History of Central Asia – From the Past to the Present.” The event was attended by the Center’s staff, teachers and students of the Hadith studies school, as well as members of the public.

During the presentation, speakers discussed the book’s history of composition, its content and essence, and its scholarly significance. Published in October 2024 by Verse Vista in San Jose, USA, the work extensively explores the life of the great Hadith scholar Imam Tirmidhi, his intellectual legacy, and the historical context in which he conducted his scholarly activities.

The book covers not only the life and activities of Imam Tirmidhi, but also the development of Islam in Central Asia, religious life under the Russian Empire and Soviet periods, persecutions against Muslims, and the processes of revival during the era of independence.

The scholarly value of the work is enhanced by its reliance on reliable and rich sources and its composition using an objective research methodology. Comprising nine chapters, the book includes eight maps, 74 illustrations, and references to over 200 sources. Each chapter concludes with detailed annotations.

Muhammad Ayub conducted research in 2015, 2017, and 2023 in Termez, Samarkand, and other historical cities.

Participants of the event highly valued the historical and spiritual significance of the book, recognizing it as an important resource not only for the scholarly community but also for young researchers.
