Uzbekistan’s Policy of Tolerance Showcased in Turkistan

A presentation event titled “Uzbekistan – A Land of Tolerance: Cultural Heritage and Interfaith Dialogue” was held by the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center at the “Azret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve in the city of Turkistan, Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was attended by prominent Kazakhstani scholars, religious studies experts, specialists in cultural heritage, historians, public figures, and representatives of the museum-reserve.

During the event, researcher Mekhrojiddin Amonov of the Center provided an in-depth overview of the wide-ranging social reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years. In particular, he spoke about efforts to ensure freedom of conscience, strengthen religious tolerance and highlight the original humanistic essence of Islam. He emphasized that, as part of these reforms, the state policy in the religious sphere has entered a new phase, creating favorable conditions for citizens to freely practice their religious beliefs. He also elaborated on the activities of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, its achievements in academic and educational initiatives, its international partnerships and its contributions to the development of Islamic sciences.

The participants welcomed the ideas and information shared at the event and highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts to guarantee freedom of conscience and strengthen an atmosphere of religious tolerance in society. Particular attention was drawn to the Concept adopted in this regard, noting its significant legal value and practical relevance.

One of the key aspects of this scholarly and educational dialogue was that it not only aimed to strengthen scientific and cultural cooperation between the two countries, but also emphasized the need for a thoughtful and knowledge-based approach to the issue of religious tolerance on the international stage. The event was noted as another important step in further solidifying the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in the fields of science and enlightenment.
