An international online round table, organized by the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and the Academy of Islamic Studies at Al-Azhar University in Egypt, focused on the topic of fundamentalism. Dr. Muhammad Vardani, a responsible member of the academy, made a speech during the event.
Fundamentalism is considered a form of tyranny towards others, only the Almighty God truly knows who is on the right path. However, there are instances of fundamental movements, particularly among Salafists, who condemn those who do not conform to their beliefs. Dr. Muhammad Vardani emphasized the dangers of adhering to such extreme beliefs, using interpretations of the Holy Quran, Hadiths, and examples from the actions of сomrades. Fundamental sects aim to confuse and control people, but individuals with a deep understanding of Islamic sciences should guide others towards unbiased thinking and liberation from one-sided beliefs. Ultimately, enlightenment prevents the development of fundamentalism.
During the round table, speakers highlighted efforts in Uzbekistan to reject destructive ideas and ideologies. For example, under the motto “Enlightenment against Ignorance” extensive work is being done to protect the minds of ordinary people with strong faith from poisoning. The experience of Al-Azhar will contribute to further enhancing effectiveness, especially for the younger generation.
