SPIRITUAL HARMONY AND SCIENTIFIC TRADITIONS IN CENTRAL ASIA

An international congress entitled “Central Asia: Shared Spiritual and Enlightenment Heritage – Shared Future” commenced yesterday in Tashkent. This prestigious gathering—attended by prominent scholars, experts, historians, theologians, and philosophers from the Central Asian states and Azerbaijan—has emerged as a significant platform for dialogue aimed at studying, preserving, and transmitting the region’s spiritual and intellectual heritage to future generations.

As part of the congress, a forum entitled “Preserving Islamic Values” was convened on 14 November. The event brought together leading specialists in religious affairs, educational policy, and the study of historical heritage from the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.

The forum featured scholarly presentations on subjects including Islamic history, spiritual heritage, ancient manuscripts, the philosophy of enlightenment, and the development of Islamic knowledge and intellectual traditions in Transoxiana. Participants engaged in a substantive exchange of views regarding the region’s shared Islamic heritage, its influence on contemporary processes of enlightenment, and its enduring relevance for younger generations.

The congress was also attended by Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center. In his presentation, the scholar provided a comprehensive discussion of Imam Bukhari’s legacy, the role of Islamic scholarly thought in Central Asia, the historical significance of hadith studies, and their relevance in today’s spiritual and moral environment.

Within the framework of the forum, the scientific ideas and initiatives proposed by specialists from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, along with the active process of mutual experience-sharing, served to further strengthen religious and educational cooperation in the region.

Participants also visited the exhibitions established at the Center of Islamic Civilization and became acquainted with the activities of the Uzbekistan International Academy of Islamic Studies and the Hazrati Imam complex.
