As previously reported, the Fourth Movarounnahr Summer Seminars are steadily continuing at the Institute of Islamic Thought in Turkey. As part of the program, a visit was organized for the participants to the ancient city of Bursa.
Under the guidance of Professor Dr. Bünyamin Erol and Associate Professor Ferhat Gökçe, this scholarly and spiritual journey enabled the participants to visit the city’s religious and historical landmarks, where they received detailed insights into their history and significance.
As part of the visit, meetings were also held with distinguished scholars of the Faculty of Theology at Uludağ University, including Professors Mustafa Kara, Halis Aydemir, Celalettin Divleççi, Cafer Karataş, Hasan Basri Öğcelen, İsmail Güler, and Muhammed Tarakçı.
During these discussions, participants engaged in in-depth dialogue on the historical formation of the Ottoman Empire and the spiritual and intellectual foundations that sustained it for over seven centuries. The historical legacy of Bursa, as well as the scholarly and cultural connections between Movarounnahr and Anatolia, were also extensively explored. In particular, the spiritual and Sufi ties among Bukhara, Bursa, and Bosnia, as well as their historical interactions and shared moral geography, were the subject of insightful exchanges.
Throughout the academic dialogues, reflections were shared on the significance of knowledge and enlightenment in Islamic civilization, the pressing challenges of the contemporary world, and the urgent need to conduct comprehensive research into the rich scholarly heritage of Movarounnahr.
The journey further enriched the traditional principles of the Movarounnahr Summer Seminars, which are founded on the harmony of intellectual exploration and scholarly inquiry.
