As previously reported, last week a delegation from Uzbekistan visited the Republic of Indonesia. The delegation included representatives of the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, as well as the international scientific research centers named after Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, and Imam Tirmizi.
As part of the visit, a number of important meetings and visits were organized aimed at further developing cooperation between the two countries in the field of religious education and enlightenment.
During the meeting with Diaz Hendropriyono, Deputy Minister of Environment Indonesia, the spiritual closeness and mutual respect between the two nations were especially emphasized. The Deputy Minister noted that when Indonesia thinks of Uzbekistan, the names that immediately come to mind are Imam Bukhari and Indonesia’s first President, Ahmad Sukarno.
He also highlighted the deep reverence the Indonesian people hold for Imam Bukhari and their strong desire and enthusiasm to visit his mausoleum. As a symbol of deep respect for Imam Bukhari, a tree sapling was planted in the Bogor Botanical Garden during the meeting.
As part of the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center and Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University. This document laid a legal foundation for enhancing opportunities in strengthening bilateral scientific relations, conducting joint research projects, and establishing academic exchange programs.
There is no doubt that this visit will serve to elevate religious, educational, and scholarly cooperation between the two countries to a new level.
The official visit of the Uzbekistan delegation to Indonesia concluded successfully.
